Cherry Street Farmer's Market

Finally, we made it to the Farmer's Market.  We've been saying we wanted to go for a loooong time, just about since the beginning of the season in May.  We had to stay home on Friday night to make it happen though.  Are we getting old or what?!!!  Got up about 6:00am, left the house just after 7:00.  We were listening to Ok Foodie last weekend and they featured the Farmer's Market.  We were convinced we had to be there by 8:00am to take in the best part of it.
Beautiful flowers and vegetables were everywhere, samples gallore (the Spinach Feta bread at the Harvest Bread company is delectable) a band and breakfast burritos to die for.  We only purchased one $5.00 burrito to share, but after the first bite decided we better go back for another one.
If you haven't been, you should stay in some Friday night and get up early Saturday morning to go to the Farmer's Market.

For the love of decorating

I really like this tablescape from Pottery Barn, however, my decorating budget for the year would be spent on this one arrangement if I were to shop there.  I have to compromise.  Hobby Lobby is my best friend, just ask Daniel, or Justin, or Dakota or any of the other people I have known over the years who have worked there.  I've had to pay off more than one of them to keep from telling my husband just exactly how many times I go to the store in a week.  Here's what I came up with for an investment of approximately $6.00.  I already had the candle and the hurricane I purchased at a garage sale for .25 awhile back.  I wish the hurricane lamp was the large one like PB's, but it'll suffice.

The Confession

John Grisham is coming out with a new book, The Confession.
He's not my favorite author, but I really enjoy reading his books.  The release date is programmed in my calendar and I've reserved a copy of it at the Library.  I'm #14 on the CD or #223 for the book.  I'd love to be able to buy every new book that comes out, but I choose to support the library.
What do you do when a new book comes out?  Go out and buy it at midnight, wait awhile to read the reviews before purchasing or borrow it from the library or friend?

Date Night....

Oops!  I was so focused on my nightly(well, almost nightly) ritual of cooking dinner that I forgot my honey had scheduled a date with me.  YIKES!  This wife stuff is difficult sometimes.  I thought I'd be in hot water for SURE.  Good thing is, my honey forgot too, until he looked at his email and saw the coupon for two Pei Wei Entrees for $10.00.  Yep, we were going to go to Pei Wei this past Monday night to celebrate their 10th anniversary.  I think we were most disappointed that we didn't get to "save" money on the two meals than the actual "date".
What did I make for dinner?  BBQ tacos with caramelized onions and cheddar cheese.  Yep!  A guy dinner, but I have to say they were good.  Only the second time I've made them.  You should try it sometime.
Here's a pic of a date we didn't forget when we went to Pawnee for the Oklahoma Steam and Gas Engine Show.  The car you see in this pic is actually run on steam, not gas.  Talk about living green... even in 1947.

How Dull

It's really a pet peeve of mine when someone has a blog and starts their post by saying, "It's been so long since I've been on here."  Dah! We can see the date of the post!!!
Anyways, having said that, I didn't intend to go so long without posting anything on here.  However, LIFE happens!
Good thing is I'm recommitting to be more consistent.  I hope you enjoy my posts and will forward to your friends.  Happy reading!

This little guy had affixed himself to the exterior of our house and was there for several days.  I was hoping I'd be able to see him spread his wings, but he's gone now.  Anyone know what kind of butterfly it would become?

National Macaroni Day...Today is the day!!!

I found the ultimate blog 30 Days 30 Ways Macaroni and Cheese.  If you know me, you know I looooove Macaroni and Cheese.  Today is National Macaroni Day, so I think I'll have Macaroni and Cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  MMMmmm, good!
Do you have a favorite recipe you use for making mac n cheese?  Let me hear about it.  Better yet, do you have a good story that involves Macaroni and Cheese?  I'd love to hear about it.  The next great novel, Mac falls in love with Chez.
I'm crazy for the stuff.
Ironically, a perfect day for a perfect meal, 07/07/2010.

Camp Meeting

As a little girl, I remember attending family camp meeting every summer.  Then as a young person, attending youth camp.  The Wisconsin district camp is celebrating its 50th year this summer.  Check out those hair-dos!!!  I'm the little red headed girl with pigtails.

Following is a picture of my sister and I attending camp as little girls. It plumb wore us out.
